Sorry this has taken so long to get written, but there’s lots to tell already! Hang in there, I’ll be trying to catch up with 2 maybe 3 stories a day. On the right there’s a button to see and show any story you may have missed. I’ll title each as I go along so you’ll know where we are at any time. Lots to tell…and show! And even a place for you to leave comments as well!
Here we go…We got to Dulles only to realize after Sarah dropped us off and left for home… that the battery charger for my Nikon DSLR, that I thought I bought, wasn’t. So, I had to buy one at Best Buy for $40 & get a Lyft for $25 just to buy the charger I thought I’d gotten for $14. Oh well. But out of the mishap, I got a driver from Turkey, who spoke very little English, he’d only been in the country for a year (w/ his son who’s in school in DC) & only spoke Turkish. He had Google Translate and we communicated via the app! A wild experience! And to make matters better… he not only took me from the hotel to BestBuy but took me back as well & didn’t charge me more!
Today was wild! Things that will be good for you when you travel next…although we had our Global One Entry which includes TSA Pre-Check…they’ve now got something new called “Clear” – where you only use your face…it’s awesome because we had a personal escort all the way through security, who walked us quickly through all phases of clearing security. We didn’t have to remove liquids, shoes or anything! It was like being someone famous…so worth it for the zero stress!
We then found the Capital One Lounge at IAD! Oh my god! What an experience! Free w/ our Venture X card. Beautiful surroundings, free buffet, free liquor, free snacks! We departed IAD on time and are now in an affiliate Capital One Lounge, The ATL Lounge…still free food and drinks, but certainly not the feeling of exclusivity as we felt in D.C.
In a few hours we’ll be officially on our way to Buenos Aires. We’re having a great time! Thanks Margaret for all your help in making this 40th anniversary present come true!
