Day 0 – Departure to Buenos Aires (Mar 10)
Day 0 – Departure to Buenos Aires (Mar 10)

Mom woke up today with a migraine and decided as much as she really wanted to go, she wasn’t up to the Scenic Málaga & Flamenco Performance, an experience of Andalusian Heritage Through Music, Dance and Historic Sites.

I did go and we embarked on a scenic drive past the subtropical gardens of the city park to La Malagueta, a culturally significant bullring that hosted its first bullfight in 1876. We wound our way up the hillside to Gibralfaro Castle for sweeping views of the city and bay below; this hilltop was the site of defensive fortifications since the 8th century BC.

We then came back to the city center to be shown Málaga. We did a lot of walking on fairly slippery marble streets that were being cleaned & prepared for their parade for Easter. After being shown the sights of the city, we went to a captivating flamenco performance. Flamenco is a musical and dance style steeped in the folkloric traditions of southern Spain. It combines guitar playing, singing and dancing to create a lively and passionate art form.

Then after the performance, we continued our walk, passing the ruins of the Roman amphitheater and the Moorish-style Alcazaba Palace before we returned to our ship.
