Day 14 – Cape Verde (Mar 24) Chris
Day 14 – Cape Verde (Mar 24)

This evening we exited the ship, and discovered you must use your key card both to exit as well as when you re-board…likely to make sure that they have everyone who left for an excursion are actually back on the ship before they exit the port.

Once off the ship, we met our shore excursion guide Constanza, who was not only our guide but our dancing instructor. Yes, you read that correctly, we were about to learn how to dance the Tango! And dad with two left feet. She took us to a small room in a quaint little building somewhere downtown, where we went up to the second floor into a smallish lobby area (we later learned from her, that it was supposed to be one of the larger side rooms, but she made the best of it and we had great fun).

After about 30-45 minutes of lessons, starting from the basics moving up to understanding how you move together and what and how the leader is to communicate what they’re about to do and how the follower is supposed to respond. A wild and fun time.

After our lesson, Constanza took us to an actual Milonga club (a social gathering or venue dedicated to dancing Argentine tango) where we watched many Argentinian people there dancing and eating.

They bought us Empenada’s of many different types and wine to drink while we enjoyed everyone dancing…many very, very good. Soon, some of us began, encouraged by and danced with, Constanza and Pablo (who had been taught by Constanza).

Mom danced with Pablo who said “just feel my body and you’ll know what to do”. It was a phenomenal evening!

While Dad danced with our teacher and tour guide…Constanza and we were able to get both of us dancing with our instructors in one picture!

This was an awesome way to start our anniversary experience late on our very first day here in Buenos Aires!
