Welcome to our travel journal! Chris & Cathy are sailing from Buenos Aires across the South Atlantic and on to Italy to celebrate 40 years together. We'll be posting photos, videos, and stories as we go — feel free to leave us a response on any entry!

Although the picture above shows a spectacular picture of what we thought we would see crossing the Southern Atlantic and to Morocco, alas it was not to be…cloudy skies.

So, today, we took a couple of days to relax as we traveled from the Cape Verde islands up to Morocco and Casablanca. There was much to do on the ship, guest lecturers, performances in the evenings, special events in the planetarium, and lots of lounging around, whether next to the pool, or out on the bow of the ship in the infinity pool, up in the Explorers lounge, or going to the small club, Torshavn, to listen to the small band and drink scotch. 

Kitchen Tour

I even got a tour of the Kitchen for the Cruise ship and how massive and well run it was. You can’t get a feel for how massive the place was and how efficiently and safely and exacting everything was done.  They had a picture of each dish…even the bread bowls and how they should be put together and displayed so they were always consistent.  Lots of storage for room service, long prep counters, and very long hallways. They had all the food items managed by time and temperature so they could maintain the safety of their passengers..  Nothing went to waste…even the food that wasn’t eaten was ground up and fed to the fish when they were more than 11 miles out to sea. Finally, as you can see below, they even had an escalator for the servers to quickly and carefully bring the prepared food to the guests above without spilling anything!

We’ve made fast friends with several folks, Michael & Luc from Basel, Switzerland; Mandy & James from the Shetlands; Stacey & Bobby from Georgia; John & Debbie from Maryland.  Most of which we’ve been able to connect either via WhatsApp, shared phone numbers (as with Scott & Robin from the cooking class the first night), or on Facebook Messenger.
